Eglon House: A Modernist Masterpiece in Primrose Hill, London - Once Home to Tim Burton

There are places that resonate with history, architecture, and luxury – Eglon House is one such place. Tucked away in a gated cobbled mews in Primrose Hill village, North-West London, this magnificent glass-walled, five-bedroom modernist home, previously listed for sale at £21 million, is a testament to architectural innovation and luxury living.

This incredible property recently made headlines with its sale to a UK media mogul for just under the asking price of £17.5 million, marking one of the most expensive home sales ever achieved in Primrose Hill. Eglon House was once the London home and creative studio of renowned movie director Tim Burton, adding an additional brush stroke of fame to its rich tapestry.

Eglon House's inspiration originates from the Maison de Verre, an enigmatic modernist mansion situated in Paris. Both structures share a hidden charm, standing discreetly behind other structures, their unique beauty known to relatively few.

Yet, the property's significance doesn't end with its architectural inspiration. This extraordinary house stands on the site of a former recording studio, a place where music legends like David Bowie and Tina Turner once created their magic. This historical connection gives Eglon House an additional layer of uniqueness, making it a captivating subject for my lens.

Comprising two buildings facing each other across a courtyard, Eglon House presents a flexible layout perfect for a live-work space or separate family and staff accommodation. British materials such as pitch pine and Portland stone blend beautifully with Lebanese cedar and Italian marble, providing an industrial space with a luxurious touch.

Throughout the photoshoot, my goal was to capture the essence of this architectural marvel. Every detail, from the square glass blocks covering the façade, a nod to the Maison de Verre, to the exposed concrete ceilings, full-height bronze windows, and double-height living room and kitchen opening onto the courtyard, is a testament to the attention and care given to this property's design. Not to forget the luxurious basement swimming pool that doubles as a cinema room.

Photographing Eglon House was not just about capturing a property – it was about encapsulating an experience that blends heritage, luxury, and contemporary design. I invite you to explore my photographic journey and appreciate this unique blend in the images of Eglon House.
