Behind the Lens: Capturing the Blend of Heritage and Luxury at The Astor, Millbank Residences

Every photoshoot tells a story, and as a professional photographer, I find joy in capturing these narratives. Recently, I had the privilege of encapsulating the story of one of London's most prestigious properties - The Astor apartment at Millbank Residences. This opportunity came to me via Nestseekers.

The Astor, nestled in the heart of historic Westminster within the walls of the Grade II listed building known as Millbank Residences, is an epitome of luxury. This property beautifully merges the charm of architectural history with the sophistication of contemporary design, creating a truly unique living space.

My journey behind the lens started in the grand living and dining room of The Astor, where I was greeted by original arched ceilings, decorative plasterwork, and timber-panelled pillars. These features whispered tales of a bygone era, capturing which was a treat to my lens. The modern elements of the property were no less captivating. The contemporary kitchen, adorned with high-end appliances, and the luxurious en suite bedrooms added to the charm of the historical narrative.

This photographic journey was a collaboration with my very close friend Rubens Brotto, the managing partner of Nestseekers' Super Prime Division, Working with Rubens was an absolute pleasure, and his professionalism was commendable. If you wish to view or purchase The Astor at Millbank Residences, you can reach Rubens directly at +44 7961 984841 or via email at Rubens@nestseekers.com. To encapsulate, the opportunity to photograph The Astor at Millbank Residences was more than just a photoshoot for me. It was a chance to weave together the threads of London's architectural history with the essence of modern luxury. It served as a stark reminder of the beauty that lies in capturing a property's spirit within a frame. If you're in search of a professional photographer who can do justice to your property's narrative, I invite you to get in touch and let's create something remarkable together.

Innovative Modular Housing Project: YMCA Thames Gateway by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners

In recent months, I've had the pleasure of photographing an exciting new project, the YMCA Thames Gateway, conceived by world-renowned architecture firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP). This was more than just an architectural shoot – it was an opportunity to document a groundbreaking project reshaping the future of affordable, sustainable housing in the heart of Romford, Essex.

YMCA Thames Gateway, an initiative under the umbrella of the YMCA Thames Gateway Group, is an inventive housing development addressing the long-standing issue of affordable move-on accommodation. Its design, execution, and purpose represent a monumental leap forward for the organization and those it serves.

The heart of this project is Park View, a development comprising 39 modular residential units. This innovative design allows the YMCA to offer high-quality, affordable housing to single individuals transitioning from the main hostel towards independence. With each unit constructed off-site in Derbyshire, they were then transported and assembled on the site in Essex. From the start of installation in July 2020, it took just half a year to complete the final home assembly in January 2021.

The compact, self-contained homes within Park View bring a sense of community, offering generous, high-quality spaces featuring exceptional insulation, daylight, and acoustics. Leveraging rapid, cost-effective volumetric technology, this method of construction introduces a sustainable, equitable approach to house building – an innovation we're likely to see more frequently in the future.

The project's success wouldn't have been possible without a diligent team working tirelessly behind the scenes. Their collective efforts resulted in a collection of images that truly embody the spirit of the project and a captivating short video detailing the project and its residents.

One such resident, Paul Oshodin, has expressed the transformative impact of moving into Park View. The stability provided by the YMCA and the sense of autonomy in his new home have been invaluable. Projects like the YMCA Thames Gateway demonstrate the power of innovative architecture in shaping and improving lives.

Documenting the YMCA Thames Gateway project was a rewarding experience. The fusion of architecture, community, and transformation is truly inspiring. I look forward to continuing to share stories of innovation and resilience through my lens. Stay tuned for more projects that are reshaping our urban landscape.

Willow House - Cotswolds

It is not everyday that I shoot such a beautiful countryside house like the Willow House, I have to say! It is one of those houses that you immediately feel in love at the moment that you step in. Situated in the charming village of Ascott, very close to Soho Farmhouse and Daylesford. It was absolutely a joy to shoot it for Savills. Photos came out great, also the brochure, designed by my team. Check it out.

Romain House - Portugal

I couldn't be happier with the results of the photography I've produced for the architects Graham Stirk and Susan Le Good of their home in a lovely village in Suffolk. The project is simply beautiful, modern and minimalist, with a spacious open plan featuring exposed timber frames.

The geometry of the project is astonishing, therefore to make the most of it, I've spent an entire day shooting inside out, from the air and ground. Please check here the best features of this incredible project.
